MOUNTAIN RACE WORKS

MOUNTAIN RACE WORKS GUIDE SERVICES

Mountain GuideWorks is a unique guiding company founded on the passion and roots of mountaineering.

Mountain GuideWorks specialized in climbing the highest peaks in Mexico and South America.

We take a different approach to guiding.

We take care of all the logistics, travel dates, hotel reservations, local food and customs so you can focus on climbing mountains. Where we are different is we allow you as the mountaineer to experience the mountains the way they were intended. Before large commercial guiding companies introduced very expensive programs that basically hold your hands to the top of the mountains climbers used to plan large expeditions, carry their own gear and, find their own routes.

We don't go to that extreme but we do provide a very affordable mountaineering trip. We take care of all the logistics, route planning, and safety while on the mountain. We then let you be mountaineers by setting up your own tent, carry your own gear, and preparation of your own food. Our guides pair climbers in 2-3 person teams to allow climbers to challenge a peak in smaller faster teams without having to worry about what a 10-12 person team is doing that may or may not mean a successful summit attempt. Call it an ALMOST self guided mountaineering trip.

January 2, 2009 to January 20, 2008 we are attempting to climb Aconcagua at 6,962 meters (22,841 ft) in elevation. The trip is limited to 10 people with some mountaineering experience and some experience at high altitude.

Cerro Aconcagua is the highest mountain in the Americas, and the highest mountain outside Asia. It is located in the Andes mountain range, in the Argentine province of Mendoza. The summit is located about 5 kilometers from San Juan Province and 15 kilometers from the international border with Chile. It lies 112 km (70 mi) west by north of the city of Mendoza. Aconcagua is the highest peak in both the Western and Southern Hemispheres. It is one of the Seven Summits.

Aconcagua is bounded by the Valle de las Vacas to the north and east and the Valle de los Horcones Inferior to the West and South. The mountain and its surroundings are part of the Aconcagua Provincial Park. The mountain has a number of glaciers. The most substantial are the north-eastern or Polish Glacier and the eastern or English Glacier.
